Walid Stainless, based in Tunis, Tunisia, stands out as a top-notch manufacturer and supplier of high-quality stainless steel welding consumables. One of their standout products is the AWS Class E316/316L-16 electrodes, crafted to deliver robust and reliable welds even in the toughest industrial settings. These electrodes are particularly praised for their outstanding resistance to corrosion, especially against pitting and crevice corrosion in environments that contain chlorides and acids. With a commitment to excellence, Walid Stainless employs cutting-edge manufacturing techniques and rigorous quality control, ensuring that their products meet the demands of various industries, including chemical processing, marine, power generation, and food and beverage, where strength and reliability are non-negotiable.
The AWS Class E316/316L-16 electrodes are made from low-carbon, austenitic stainless steel, primarily consisting of iron, chromium (16–18%), nickel (10–14%), and molybdenum (2–3%), along with trace amounts of manganese and silicon. The low-carbon version (316L) is particularly beneficial as it reduces carbide precipitation, enhancing resistance to intergranular corrosion. In terms of performance, these electrodes yield weld metal with a tensile strength of about 75 ksi (515 MPa) and an elongation of roughly 35%, which translates to excellent toughness and ductility. The fully austenitic weld deposits also help minimize the risk of cracking during both the welding process and in challenging service conditions.
